The first China – Europe block train has arrived at the ferry terminal in Baltiysk in Kaliningrad region. The train consists of forty-two 40’ units laden with consumer goods, auto parts and computer equipment.
The transit time from Xian in China was 8 days. From Baltiysk, the cargo was loaded on board feeder vessels to be transported to Mukran/Sassniz, the only port in Western Europe with the Russian rail gauge standard.
The multimodal service is intended as regular. The project also envisages organizing block trains in the opposite direstion from Germany to China via Mukran/Sassniz and Baltiysk.
