During January-September 2019, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system was up 1.6% to 6.1 bn tons.
The only segment that grew was road, which was up 3.1% to 4.2 mn tons.
According to the RF Statistics Agency, rail cargo volume declined by 0.9% down to 957.6 mn tons.
Pipeline traffic was down 0.8% year-on-year to 857 mn tons.
Maritime transport volume decreased by 19.2% year-on-year down to 14.4 mn tons.
Inland shipping volume dropped by 16% year-on-year down to 77.8 mn tons.
Air transport carried 0.82 mn tons, down 4.7% year-on-year.
In September, cargo transportation by most of the transport modes declined month-on-month, the only segment that remained steady on the August 2019 level was sea freight.
