In August 2019, container traffic via Russia’s Far Eastern port was up 5.7% year-on-year. Import increased by 11.9%, cabotage by 7.5% and export by 2.8%. Transit, on the contrary, was down 23.6%.
Vladivostok
Vladivostok accounted for 61.1% of the aggregate container throughput of the Far Eastern sea ports in August. Compared to August 2018, the port handled container volume increased by 12.9%. Import was up 18.9%, cabotage up 11.9% and export up 12.8% year-on-year. Transit was non-existent in August.
Vostochny
Container traffic via Vostochny during the month under report declined by 9.5%. Export was down 24.5%, import down 4% and transit down 9.5%. Cabotage, on the contrary, grew by 8.4% year-on-year.
Korsakov
Cabotage constitutes the major share of the container throughput via Korsakov. In August this year it decreased by 6.3%. Import dropped by 32.5%, export was down 29.5%. The total container throughput was 8.1% below the August 2018 result.
Magadan
Container traffic via Magadan was up 26% year-on-year in August. Cabotage, which constitutes the major share of the total, increased by 28.6%. Import was down 65.3%. Export remained much on the previous year’s level.
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
Container traffic via Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky increased by 5.3% year-on-year. Almost all of the total volume is cabotage, which grew by 2.4%. Import surged 10.4-fold, export was up 96.5% year-on-year.
