Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 40, 2019

  • In the Sea of Azov, rates are slowly but steadily moving upwards, but the pace is not substantial, just a dollar a week. No spot tonnage is observed in the Sea of Azov, this trend will most probably continue.

The 10 days weather forecast is quite favorable (almost summer-like), but then autumn would prolong voyages duration and start affecting the market as usual.

According to Rufco shipbrokers, freight rates to the Sea of Marmara make $21-22 pmt from Rostov and 20.5-21.5 pmt from Yeisk.

Freight rates to SE Black Sea ports are $19-20 pmt from Rostov and 18.5-19.5 pmt from Yeisk.

Black sea coasters are following the same trend, but the pace here is even smaller, half a dollar per week. However, more and more cargoes are appearing in the market.

The Caspian region also shows positive dynamic in trade activity and freight rates growth. The forthcoming end of the river navigational season helps to keep cargo traffic alive.

Freight ex Astrakhan to Iran make $27-29 pmt this week.
