Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 39, 2019

  • The struggle for the rates between owners and shippers continues in the sea of Azov. Owners have succeeded to move rates up for about a dollar especially for spot shipments where lack of tonnage is observed.

According to Rufco shipbrokers, freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $20-21 pmt.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are also down making $18-19 pmt.

Black sea coasters have been holding the same level for already a month period. The good news is that the number of spot vessels is constantly decreasing, which gives at least some hope for a better market soon.

In the Caspian, the forthcoming October brings a usual increase in trade in the region. However, rates from Astrakhan are mainly keeping on the same levels but shippers from Volga ports are very active now and constantly sound the market in attempts to move their cargoes before winter. Aktau is also showing an increasinglevel of activity this week.

Freight ex Astrakhan to Iran make $26-27 pmt this week.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration.
