According to the Association of European Businesses (AEB) statistics, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in January-July 2019 declined by 2.4% year-on-year amounting to 968.7 thousand mn units. In July, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles were also down by 2.4% to 139.9 thousand units.
“Seven months into 2019, we find the market -2.4% down, both month-on-month and year-on-year. Market expectations till the end of the year are fundamentally no better”, commented Lars Himmer, Deputy Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.
Lada remained the leader of the Russian car market in July with its sales increasing 0.3% year-on-year up to 29.5 thousand units.
KIA continues to rate the second with its sales amounting to 18.8 thousand cars, up 1.6% year-on-year.
Hyundai remains the third, its sales declined by 3.6% down to 13.8 thousand cars.
Renault saw its sales grow by 11.9% year-on-year up to 11.8 thousand units.
Toyota forced Volkswagen down in the rating and rates the fifth in July, though its sales decreased by 3.8% down to 9.4 thousand units.
Among the car brands that demonstrated the most spectacular growth in July were Haval (up 4.6-fold), Geely (up 3.6-fold), коммерческих FIAT (up 2.4-fold) and Chrysler (up 2-fold).
The brands that saw their sales decline the most were Ford (-83%), Mercedes-Benz commercial vehincles (-80%), Lifan (-75%), Zotye (-71%), Honda (-63%), Iveco commercial vehicles (-60%) and HTM (-57%).
