Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 27, 2019

  • The Azov market is rising and the change in spot rates since last week is quite substantial. The present freight rates dynamics almost correlate with the market conditions of July 2017.

However, there are voices that say that the Turkish trade activity is still slightly reduced and therefore the market could lose its pace in the near future, according to Rufco shipbrokers.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $25-26 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $23-24 per ton.

The Black sea market is finally showing the first signs of improvement, but the number of spot tonnage in the region is yet excessive.

In the Caspian, rates have risen but not to the same extent as in the Sea of Azov. The trade is stable and the quantity of ships trading with Iran at present covers the current demand for transportation.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $27-30 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration.
