Grain Export Down

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-April Russia exported 8.5 mn tons of wheat and meslin, down 34.5% year-on-year. In terms of value, grain export dropped 19.3% down to $1.9 bn.

    Wheat import into Russia during January-April 2019 declined 41.9% down to 72.6 thousand tons. Barley import was down 15.6% to 3.8 thousand tons, corn import dropped 18.8% down to 25.1 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, wheat import was down 2.9% to $16..9 mn. Barley import grew 87.5% up to $1.5 bn, while corn import declined 24.9% down to $90 mn.

    In April alone, wheat and meslin export made 1.9 mn tons, down 42% year-on-year and down 0.9% month-on-month. In terms of value, it dropped 29.7% year-on-year and 2% month-on-month down to $433.8 mn.

    Wheat import in April made 17.8 thousand tons, down 51.5% year-on-year and down 14% month-on-month. Corn import declined 20.8% year-on-year and 59.5% month-on-month up to 3.2 thousand tons. Barley import dropped 50% year-on-year and 20% month-on-month down to 300 tons.

    In terms of value, wheat import in April 2019 made $3.9 bn, down 22% year-on-year and down 23.5% month-on-month. Corn import increased 1.1% year-on-year and dropped 65.3% month-on-month to make $9.1 mn. Barley import was worth $300 thousand, up 50% year-on-year and 50% down month-on-month.
