According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during January-March 2019 Russia exported 10.9 mn tons of ferrous metals, down 1.2% year-on-year. In terms of value, ferrous metals export declined 9.3% down to $4.9 bn.
Intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was up 3.2% year-on-year to over 4.1 mn tons. In terms of value, it decreased by 10.6% down to some $1.7 bn.
In March, intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export was down 10.7% year-on-year and up 4.9% month-on-month making 1.4 mn tons. In terms of value, it was down 21.8% year-on-year and up 8.1% month-on-month to $610.8 mn.
Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export in January-March declined 8.7% year-on-year down to 1.7 mn tons worth $970.7 mn, down 15.6%.
In March, this commodity export was down 16.8% year-on-year and down 4.6% month-on-month making 529 thousand tons worth $304.6 mn (down 21.8% year-on-year and 0.8% month-on-month).
Cast iron export in January-March declined by 17.4% year-on-year down to 1.2 mn tons worth $433.8 mn, down 15.6%.
In March, cast iron export made 555.5 mn tons, down 33.3% year-on-year, but up 19.3% month-on-month. In terms of value, it amounted to $192.1 mn, down 30.9% year-on-year, but up 15.9% month-on-month.
Ferroalloys export in January-March increased by 26.1% year-on-year up to 211.5 mn tons worth $342.3 mn (+19.7%).
In March, ferroalloys export was up 39.6% year-on-year, but down 12.2% month-on-month to 63.8 mn tons. In terms of value, it grew 12.1% year-on-year declining 9.2% month-on-month to amount to $102.8 mn.
