In the Azov market, rates on short distances have lost a dollar since previous week. Agricargoes ex Rostov/Azov to Marmara are mainly fixed at $15-16 per metric ton.
According to Rufco shipbrokers, owners are not keen to fix their vessels for long voyages to Eastern or Central Mediterranean and choose to admit smaller losses on shorter voyages in hope for a better market soon. As a result, long laden legs are now quoted with additional premium.
Black sea coasters are in quite a bad situation as there is too much spot tonnage around both the Black and Marmara Seas and no signs of improvement yet.
Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $15-16 per ton.
Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $13-14 per ton.
In the Caspian, the market is quite dull. No brisk activity is spotted this week even bearing in mind that not so much time remains until the religious holidays. Mid-Volga river ports are also silent, there is no substantial cargo flow in either direction NIP or Black/Marmara Seas.
The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $27-28 per ton.
