According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, during the first month of 2019 Russia imported 5.8 mn pairs of leather footwear, up 1.8% year-on-year. Compared to December 2018, the growth made as much as 52.6%. In terms of value, leather footwear import increased by 3.6% year-on-year and by 25.9% month-on-month up to $138.2 mn.
Clothes import into Russia in January 2019 did not change year-on-year and declined 8% month-on-month down to $527.6 mn.
Cotton fabric import increased by 9.9% year-on-year and by 2.7% month-on-month up to 23.5 mn sqm in physical terms. In terms of value it was up 9.2% year-on-year, but declined by 9.1% month-on-month making $13 mn.
Cotton fabric export from Russia grew by 10.1% year-on-year, but dropped 33.4% month-on-month amounting to 5.2 mn sqm physically. In terms of value, it declined 3.4% year-on-year and 17.6% month-on-month down to $2.8 mn.
