The introduction of new ice restrictions in the Big port of St. Petersburg is delayed again due to milder weather and slower ice formation, than initially expected.
In accordance with the order of the Harbour Master of the Big port of St. Petersburg, w.e.f. January 25, 2019, the following restrictions are implemented in the port basin and the approaching fairways provided that the ice is 10-15 cm thick:
- Vessels with no ice class are allowed to navigate in the ice conditions under icebreaking escort only,
- Vessels with ice class Ice1 and above are allowed to navigate on advise and recommendation of icebreakers or under icebreaking escort.
Similar restrictions are introduced in the Passenger Port of St. Petersburg as of the same date.
Previously, these restrictions were set to be introduced since January 10, and then since January 17.
