Russian Transport Sector in January-November

  • During January-November 2018, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system grew 5.2% year-on-year to exceed 7.4 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, road transport accounts for the largest share in the entire volume with some 5.1 bn tons, up 6.8% year-on-year.

    Rail cargo volume increased 2.3% up to 1.18 bn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was up 2.6% to 1.06 bn tons.

    Air freight increased 2% down to 1 bn tons.

    Maritime transport volume declined 21.9% down to 17.8 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume was also down 4.2% to 102.8 mn tons.

    In November, only maritime and pipeline segment demonstrated positive month-on-month growth.
