During January-November 2018, the sea ports of Ukraine handled 757.5 thousand TEU.
It is 42.5% above the result for the same period of 2017 and exceeds the container throughput via Russia’s largest Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, which handled 666.9 thousand TEU.
Export container traffic via the Ukrainian sea ports made 356.9 thousand TEU, up 57.7% year-on-year. Import grew 35.9% up to 371.2 thousand TEU.
Transit declined 1.6% down to 29.4 thousand TEU. Cabotage was non-existent.
Odessa handled 537.6 thousand TEU during January-November 2018, up 14.9% year-on-year.
Yuzhny surged 68.3% up to 107.1 thousand TEU.
Chernomorsk (formerly known as Ilyichevsk) handled 112.5 thousand TEU compared to just 42 TEU in January-November 2017. However, it is worth noting that in 2017, the Sea Ports Administration did not include the container throughput of Ilyichevsk Sea Fishing Port in the statistics of Chernomorsk. According to SeaNews’ data, Ilyichevsk Sea Fishing Port handled 112.5 thousand TEU in January-October this year, 7.1% below the figure for the same period of 2017.
Olvia Specialized Sea Port (formerly, Oktyabrsk) handled 333 TEU exceeding its last year’s January-November result 6.7-fold.
