Food Products Import into Russia

  • During January-October 2018, import of meat and dairy products into Russia declined.

    According to the RF Federal Customs Service, Russia imported 329.2 thousand tons of meat and meat products, down 37.9% year-on-year.

    Fresh and frozen poultry import decreased by 9.7% down to 172.2 thousand tons.

    Fish import declined by 3.8% down to 321.6 thousand tons.

    However, canned meat and meat specialties import increased insignificantly by 1.5% up to 14.8 thousand tons.

    Condensed milk and cream import was dropped 37.5% down to 130.1 thousand tons.

    Butter import decreased 20.8% down to 71.1 thousand tons.

    Vegetable oil import grew by 13% up to 21.9 thousand tons. In October, Russia imported 103. Thousand tons of palm oil, up 53.5% month-on-month.

    Citrus fruit import in January-October was up 9.3% to exceed 1 mn tons. In September, Russia imported 84 thousand tons of apples (up 50% month-on-month) and 145 thousand tons of bananas (up 49.9% month-on-month).

    Sugar import continued to decline, in January-October raw sugar import dropped 61.6% down to 4.8 thousand tons and white sugar import, on the contrary, increased by 8.1% up to 234.6 thousand tons.

    Coffee import grew by 5.1% up to 164.1 thousand tons and tea import by 0.3% up to 141.7 thousand tons.
