Russian Grain Export and Import

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, in January-September 2018 Russia exported 32.2 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 54.4% year-on-year.

    In terms of value, grain export surged 62.2% up to $6 bn.

    In September, wheat and meslin export made 4.5 mn tons, down 3% month-on-month.

    Wheat import into Russia during January-September of 2018 grew 17% amounting to 222.6 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, wheat import was up 20.8% up to $35.4 mn. 

    Barley import dropped 92.1% down to 12.7 thousand tons, corn import declined 14.5% down to 35.3 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, barley import was down 93.7% to $2 mn, and corn import down 7.6% to $127.6 mn.
