Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 27, 2018

  • Azov market is continuing to rise further. Although there are not so many open cargoes circulated over the market, but the majority of tonnage is already fixed for July dates and thus this lack of available tonnage is the actual reason for the recent and future freight increase, according to Rufco shipbrokers.

Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $21-22 per ton.

Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $19-20 per ton.

The Caspian market is still mainly active by shipments ex Volga / Don river ports. Grain lots from Aktau and other Caspian ports are quite rare.

Astrakhan grain parcels are mainly served by Iranian tonnage, which is working with quite substantial discounts. This creates severe problems for companies who are unable to engage Iranian controlled tonnage but have demands ex Astrakhan port.

The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $27-29 per ton.

Please note that the rates cited in this article are average market rates. We ask our readers to pay attention that this information is not a commercial offer and cannot be an example for comparison in commercial disputes and arbitration proceedings.
