Azov and Caspian Freight Market, Week 25, 2018

  • The Azov segment already started concentrating on July bookings for new harvest shipments. Charterers want to book tonnage right now in order to be on the safe side during rush time in July.

    According to Rufco shipbrokers, beginning of July is now quoted at $2 in surplus on current market.

    Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $16-17 per ton.

    Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $14-15 per ton.

    The Caspian freight market is relatively flat. Steel shipments from Astrakhan are quite rare, mid-Caspian ports are also not so active.

    Cargoes to Iran are mainly offered for transportation from Volga river ports only.

    Current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $28-30 per ton.
