Russian Wheat Export Surges 60%

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service statistics, in January-April 2018 Russia exported slightly more than 13 mn tons of wheat and meslin, up 59.7 year-on-year.

    In terms of value, grain export surged 60.2% to some $2.4 bn.

    In April this year Russia exported over 3.3 mn tons of wheat and meslin, down 15.1% compared to April this year.

    Wheat import into Russia during the 4 months of 2018 surged 63.9% amounting to 125 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, wheat import was up 40.3% up to $17.4 mn.

    Corn import was down 11.8% down to 30.9 thousand tons, while barley import dropped 92% down to 4.5 thousand tons.

    In terms of value, corn import declined 9.5% to $119.8 mn, and barley import was down 93.2% to $800 thousand.
