Russian Food Import

  • Russia’s import of meat and meat products continues to decline.

    According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, in January-March this year Russia imported 92.9 thousand tons of meat and meat products, down 26.5% year-on-year.

    Canned meat and processed meat products import decreased 18% down to 3.7 thousand tons.

    Fresh and frozen poultry import grew 6.7% up to 49.1 thousand tons.

    Fish import increased 8.5% up to 119.8 thousand tons.

    Milk and condensed cream import dropped 35.3% year-on-year down to 36.8 thousand tons.

    Butter import declined 43.9% down to 14.5 thousand tons.

    Vegetable oils import surged 2.8-fold up to 8.7 thousand tons. Palm oil import in March made 154 thousand tons, up 72.3% month-on-month.

    Citrus fruit import during January-March grew 5.8% up to 561.3 thousand tons.

    Apple import in March made 89.4 thousand tons (+6.6% month-on-month), and banana import was 131.3 thousand tons (-7.3% month-on-month), and bananas import made 142.9 thousand tons (up 8.8% month-on-month).

    Raw sugar import in January-March dropped 73.9% down to just 1.3 thousand tons, while white sugar import increased 8.4% up to 70.5 thousand tons.

    Coffee import was up 9.5% to 45.7 thousand tons and tea import up 3.7% to 39.8 thousand tons.
