Ice restrictions in the Big port of St. Petersburg may be lifted in the middle of April, according to the information letter of the Harbour Master.
The current ice conditions in the Neva Mouth remain tough, with ice in the St. Petersburg Sea Channel 20-50 cm thick, and in the Neftyanaya Gavan (Oil Haven) basin the ice channel sides are 1-2 m thick.
However, the ice conditions forecast for April suggests quick thawing of ice in the Neva mouth basin.
In Primorsk, the lifting of ice restrictions is also expected in mid-April. Currently, the ice in the port basin and in the approaching fairways is 20-30 cm thick.
