Russian Transport Sector Up

  • During January-February 2018, cargo volume carried by all transport modes in the RF transport system grew 4.2% year-on-year to make 1.1 bn tons.

    According to the RF Statistics Agency, road transport accounts for the largest share in the entire volume accounting for 688.6 mn tons, up 5.4% year-on-year.

    Rail cargo volume increased 3.7% to 204 mn tons.

    Pipeline traffic was up slightly by 0.8% to 206.6 mn tons.

    Inland shipping volume grew 16.7% to 4.2 mn tons, while maritime transport volume declined 9.4% to 2.9 mn tons.

    Air freight remained on the previous year’s level at 0.15 mn tons.
