During 2017 Russia exported 42.4 mn tons of ferrous metals, 2.2% below the figure for 2016. However, the value of ferrous metals exported grew 34.9% year-on-year making $18.8 bn.
According to the RF Federal Customs service statistics, intermediate iron and unalloyed steel products export declined 5.2% to $14.4 mn. In terms of value this export category increased 34.9% to over $6 bn.
Iron and unalloyed steel flat section export decreased 3.3% to 8.6 mn tons physically and surged 37.7% to $4.6 bn in terms of value.
Cast iron export dropped 6.2% to 4.8 mn tons physically and grew 39% to some $1.6 bn in terms of value.
Ferroalloys export was down 2.6% physically to 743.1 thousand tons while increasing 7.6% in terms of value to $1.3 bn.
