During the first 5 months of 2016, the trade turnover between Russia and the European Union made 73.5 bn euro, declining 16.4% year-on-year. Compared to the previous month, the difference with the same period of 2015 did not change, in January-April the turnover also lagged behind 16.4%.
According to Eurostat, export to Russia from the EU decreased 4.9% to 27.4 bn euro. Russian import into the EU was down 22% to 46.1 bn euro.
In January-May 2016 Russia rated the fifth among the EU’s largest trade partners in import after the USA, China, Switzerland and Turkey, and the fourth among the EU’s largest export partners after China, the US and Switzerland.
