The Azov market has slowly turned upwards. There are plenty of agricultural cargoes for the end of June and full July dates. Charterers are still eager to book tonnage for any July dates.
According to Rufco shipbrokers, mid-July laycans are mainly quoted $3-4 pmt higher than current levels, but some owners want to see at least $25 pmt to Marmara for mid or SH July.
The most significant rise this week is in longhaul voyages, like East Med and Italy. Owners’ main strategy now is to book shorter voyages hoping for further market boost. Thus, they are asking for additional premiums for longer destinations.
Freight rates to the Sea of Marmara from Rostov make $18-19 per ton.
Freight rates from Rostov to SE Black Sea ports are $16-17 per ton.
The Caspian market is also showing a slight upward trend. The Caspian Sea itself is remaining quite dull, but river trade is getting active day by day. Rufco report some rise in freight levels ex Volga river ports
The current freight rates from Astrakhan to Iran make $28-30 per ton.
