Murmansk Handles First Shipment for Kola Wind Farm

  • Murmansk Commercial Sea Port has handled the first shipment of components for the Kola Wind Farm. 16 gondolas weighing 2.8 thousand tons in total was delivered to Murmansk from Bronka in St. Petersburg. One gondola measures over 12 meters long, over 4 meters wide and more than 4 meters tall.

    It took more than two years to prepare port and road infrastructure and develop the logistics scheme for the project, according to Murmansk Commercial Sea Port.

    The port is to handle 17 vessels that will deliver equipment and components for 57 wind turbines that will make up Russia’s largest wind farm beyond the Polar Circle, a project developed by Enel Green Power.

    At present, three vessels carrying wind turbine components are en route to Murmansk from Taganrog.
