This year, the navigation season in Russia’s Volga-Baltic inland waterway (Volgo-Balt) has closed on November 21, the RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport said in a statement.
The navigation season was planned to be completed on November 15, but it was extended in response to the requests of ship owners whose vessels, tugs and barges needed more time to get to the ports of discharge or to the winter lay-up bases.
During the navigation season of 2023, 18,700 ship voyages was made in the Volga-Baltic, the cargo traffic being level with the previous year’s navigation. Oil products transportation grew 25% year-on-year.
