First Electric Crane in Russian Far East

  • Terminal Astafiev is getting ready the first fully electric crane to be deployed in the Russia Far East for the launch. The new portal crane LPS 420 E customs made to the order of the company is being currently assembled.

    THe rane was delivered to Nakhodka from St. Petersburg on board the nuclear-powered container vessel “Sevmorput” by the Northern Sea Route. The transit time was 23 days. After unloading at the roadstead, the crane was delivered to the Terminal Astafiev quayside for assembly.

    The crane will be deployed handling containers. It has a performance of up to 30 movements per hour. According to Alexey Drozdov, Terminal Astafiev Deputy MD, the equipment is ideal for serving container vessels up to the Post-Panamax class.

    Terminal Astafiev already uses another LPS crane, the LPS 280 model.

    The assembly of the new crane is to be completed in September.
