Shipbuilding and Shiprepair to Be Resumed in Sevastopol

  • Alexey Rakhmanov, CEO of Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation, and Mikhail Razvozhaev, Governor of Sevastopol, have visited the workshops of the Sergo Ordzhonikidze Marine Plant in Sevastopol and discussed the issues of modernization and utilization of the yard, USC reports.

USC’s yards in Sevatopol are facilities of strategic importance, Rakhmanov noted. They are important for building vessels for both commercial and fishing fleet, he added. They can build and repair bulker from 40,000 to 60,000 dwt, and even larger vessels in future.

At present, according to Rakhmanov, technological equipment and vessels are being designed. ‘By the middle of next year, we hope to have full design documentation, and by then we should have new machinery and equipment in place to start work here,’ he said.

At present, universal dry cargo river-sea-going vessels can be built there.
