Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, the operator of Gazpromneft’s bunker business, has accomplished the first biofuel bunkering operation in Russia, the company said in a statement.
The test bunkering of a marine vessel with fuel with a low carbon footprint was performed in St. Petersburg. The project was implemented in cooperation with the fast food network Vkusno – i tochka and Ecoway.
The biofuel composition is based on Gazpromneft’s low sulphur marine fuel and used cooking oil. The technology process includes multi-stage sedimentation, filtration and heat treatment of cooking oil, which is performed b Ecoway.
Blending the components, production, laboratory control, storage and transshipment of marine biofuel take place at Gazpromneft’s terminal in the port of St. Petersburg.
The new fuel complies with the current technical regulations and can be used on most sea- and river-going vessels.
