The Main Department of State Expertise (Glavgosexpertiza) has approved of the project documentation and engineering survey results for Stage 1 of the Vessel Traffic Management System development in the sea port of Rostov, Glavgosexpertiza has announced.
The project envisages building a VTM System with additional equipment to be installed, including an automated radio engineering station and a 75.5 meters high tower, as well as other objects.
The Rostov-na-Donu VTM System will control vessel movement and their positions at anchorages, organize vessel movement and assist navigation, relay navigation, operative and other information.
The sea port of Rostov-na-Donu is shallow and subject to shallowing due to sediment from the eastern part of the Gulf of Taganrog and the lower reaches of the Don River, which prevents large-tonnage vessels from calling the port.
The VTM System will improve the safety of navigation in the port basin and on the approaches to the port.
