Прирост контейнерных перевозок через порты Дальнего Востока составил 34%

Container Traffic via Russian Far Eastern Ports Up 34%

  • Container traffic via the Russian Far Eastern ports grew 34% year-on-year, acting Head of the RF Federal Customs Service Ruslan Davydov said speaking at the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum held in St. Petersburg last week.

‘Speaking of container flow reorientation, as of June 14, container traffic via the Far Eastern port grew 34% year-on-year, and last year it was also growing. Notably, in the Northwest we see the same 34% of decline. So, the container flows moved from West to East,’ Davydov said.

He informed that during the five and a half months of this year the customs authorities in the Russian Far East cleared 529 thousand containers, which is a record breaking figure.

‘This year and next year we expect a larger result, so our priority is to improve interdepartmental coordination to operate cohesively and seamlessly,’ he said.

‘The shipping segment is pivotal in terms of export and import operations. In the Far East, out of the 92 million tons that crossed the border, 72 million tons was shipped by sea,’ Davydov continued.

He added that the speed of cargo movement depends much on the customs operations efficiency as well as on port and railway operations.
