Astrakhan Yards to Build Floating Dock for Severnaya Verf Shipyard

  • Southern Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Center, part of Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation, has concluded a contact to build a 24012 Design floating transfer dock for St. Petersburg-based Severnaya Verf Shipyard, USC said in a statement.

    The floating dock is designed for launching warships, passenger and cargo vessels and rigs as well as for lifting vessels for survey, maintenance and repair. It can also be used for moving large structures and hulls between berths within the yard.

    The hull of the dock will consist of 11 pontoons measuring 14.4 by 62 meters.

    The design was made by Almaz marine engineering bureau. Two Astrakhan-based yards will be engaged in construction, Krasnye Barrikady and ASPO. The commissioning sate is set for November 2025.

    Wen built, the pontoons will be assembled and equipped at Severnaya Verf in St. Petersburg.

    • Length: 189.6 m,
    • Slipway deck length: 177.6 m,
    • Width: 62 m,
    • Pontoon height to the slipway deck: 7 m,
    • Capacity: 25,000 tons,
    • Maximum immersion: 20.64 m,
    • Crew: 21 person.
