The Government of the Russian Federation has confirmed the price for selling 27,49999998621683% of the authorized capital of Sakhalin Energy LLC, the operator of Sakhalin 2 project, at 94.8 bln rubles ($1,154 mln). he buyer is Novatek.
Sakhalin Energy LLC took over Sakhalin 2 Project operations in summer of 2022. As per RF Government Regulation “On measures to implement Decree No. 416 of the President of the Russian Federation of 30 June 2022”, the rights and obligations, as well as the personnel of Sakhalin Energy have been transferred to the new organization.
Japan’s Mitsui & Co and Mitsubishi Corporation retained their shares in Sakhalin 2 Project. The RF Government authorized the transfer of shares in Sakhalin Energy LLC to their subsidiaries.
Meanwhile, Shell that owned 27.5% in the project refused to participate in the new operator. Its share is to be sold after its cost is evaluated.
