In January-February 2023, the sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia decreased by 62.5 % year-on-year to 74.4 thousand units, according to the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee (AEB AMC).
In February alone, new car and LCV sales decreased by 62.1% year-on-year but grew 28.8% month-on-month to make 41.9 thousand units.
Lada remained the leader of the Russian car market in February 2023 with its sales up 4.7% year-on-year to 23.4 thousand units.
China’s Haval stepped up to the second position with 5.3 thousand units sold, up 49.3% year-on-year.
Another Chinese brand. Geely, remained the third with its sales surging 85.2% in February to 4.1 thousand units.
GAZ commercial vehicles continued to rate the fourth with more than 2.6 thousand units sold, down 30.8% year-on-year.
UAZ rated the fifth with its sales amounting to more than 1.5 thousand units, down 9.4% year-on-year.
Most of the brands sold in the Russian market demonstrated a negative trend in February 2023, the few exceptions apart from the brands from the Top 5 being China’s Great Wall (up 7.8-fold), Changan (up 2.2-fold), and FAW.
