The sea ports of Ukraine handled some 59 mn tons of cargo during 2022, down 61.5% year-on-year, reports PortSEurope quoting the statistics of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Export was down 59.6% to 47.8 mn tons, and import down 74.3% to 6.2 mn tons. Under the ‘grain deal’, more than 16 mn tons of grain was exported from Ukraine.
Cargo traffic via Ukarine’s Danube ports (Reni, Izmail, Ust-Dunaisk) saw their cargo throughput surge severalfold.
The major commodities handled via Ukrainian sea ports are grains, ore and ferrous metals.
