The Government of the Russian Federation will allocate more than 1.3 bn rubles ($21.8 mn) to subsidize freight shipping to Kaliningrad Oblast. A decree to this effect was signed by RF Premier Mikhail Mishustin, the Government press office said in a statement.
The money will be directed to the RF Federal Agency for Maritime and River Shipping (Rosmorrechflot), which will be responsible for distributing the subsidies between shipping companies. The subsidy will be financed from the Government’s reserve fund.
The decision is aimed at providing for shipping freight to Kaliningrad for privileged tariffs. During September-December 2022, 750,000 tons of cargo is expected to be delivered to Kaliningrad Oblast and 150,000 tons is to be shipped from the region. The commodities to be transported include coal, cement, construction bricks, and cars.
