Russia Implements Quota for Scrap Metal Export

  • The RF Government has implemented a quota for ferrous metal scrap to come into force w.e.f. June 1 till July 31, 2022.

The decision was made in order to regulate export of metals used in industrial manufacturing and to prevent a price increase in the domestic market as well as to provide for the demand of metallurgic companies.

An export due for metal has been set at 100 euro per ton for export volumes under 540,000 tons. The due for exporting more than 540,000 tons will make 290 euro per ton.

The quota of 540,000 tons is distributed depending on the region taking into account their industrial specialization, and the quota mechanism allows of exporting metal scrap that is unclaimed by systemically important companies.

The dues will apply to scrap metal exported outside the Eurasian Union only.
