Atomenergomash, part of the machine building division of Rosatom, has completed the first tests at the medium- and large-size LNG equipment test unit in the Efremov Scientific Research Institute of Electrophysical Apparatus (NIIEFA Efremov) in St. Petersburg.
The test unit was put into operation in December 2021, and the first object tested was a large cryogenic LNG pump designed for loading liquefied natural gas from a storage tank on board a LNG tanker.
The large cryogenic LNG pump developed by the Afrikantov Design Bureau incorporated into Atomenergomash is currently the most productive Russian made LNG pump with a capacity of 2,000 cub m per hour.
The St. Petersburg-based test unit is a large-scale laboratory complex aimed for testing pumps, detanders and compressors. It is the first testing ground in Europe for medium- and large-tonnage LNG plants. The test block was designed by Russian specialists and is equipped with Russian-made equipment only, Atomenergomash said.
