Timber and Logs Export from Russia in January 2022 Down

  • During January 2022 Russia’s export of logs made 591 thousand cbm, down 42.4% year-on-year and down 14% month-on-month. According to the RF Federal Customs Service’s statistics, in terms of value, logs export was down 42.7% year-on-year and down 7.7% month-on-month making $43 mn.

    Sawn goods decreased by 14.4% year-on-year and by 23.5% month-on-month down to 860.8 thousand tons worth $363.2 mn, up 37.4% year-on-year and down 20.1% month-on-month.

    Plywood export in January 2022, made 215 thousand cbm, down 4.4% year-on-year and down 24.1% month-on-month. In terms of value, it increased by 54.9% year-on-year and declined by 17.5% month-on-month making to $154.2 mn.

    Wood pulp export made 168.9 thousand tons, down 4.4% year-on-year and down 4.4% month-on-month. In terms of value, wood pulp export grew by 20% year-on-year and decreased by 12.2% month-on-month to make $99 mn.

    Newsprint export declined by 10.3% year-on-year and by 13% month-on-month to make 66.2 thousand tons in terms of tonnage. In terms of value, it was up 66.1% year-on-year and down 5.4% month-to-month to $40.2 mn.
