New Shipyard to Be Built in Russian Far East

  • International Innovation Maritime Construction and Ship Repair Center Ltd., a resident of the free port of Vladivostok, is to develop a shipbuilding and shiprepair yard in the town of Sovetskaya Gavan in the Russian Far East.

    According to the Russian Far East and Arctic Development Corporation, the company intends to start building crab boats to their own design and ship sections for Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex and repairing fishing and freight vessels as early as in September 2023.

    The yard is expected to reach its full capacity in Q4 2024 when it will be capable of producing some 30,000 tons of metals structures, building ten and repairing twelve and more vessels a year.

    The project envisages modernizing the existing shipbuilding and port infrastructure including the berths, the boathouse and the slipways.

    2.2 bn rubles ($29.3 mn) is to be invested into the project which is to give jobs to 332 people.
