TOP-5 Russian Container Terminals in January-November 2021

  • The total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports during January-November 2021 amounted to over 5.1 mn TEU. Five terminals handled 2.8 mn TEU or 54.4% of this volume.

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, in January-November 2021 Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP) is the leader in terms of container throughput. Its container traffic increased by 14.6% year-on-year up to 689.6 thousand TEU.

    First Container Terminal rates the second in January-November 2021. It handled 575.5 thousand TEU, down 9.3% year-on-year.

    Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg decreased its container traffic by 9.3% down to 552.2 thousand TEU.

    Container traffic via NUTEP amounted to 493.5 thousand TEU, up 12.7% year-on-year.

    Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company handled 471.2 thousand TEU, up 14.1% year-on-year.

    It should be noted that the highest container throughput growth was via Vladivostok Sea Terminal. Its container traffic surged 11.5-fold. This stevedore did not handle containers in January-August last year. Vostokmorservice was up 5.3-fold. Dalzavod-Terminal in Vladivostok surged its container traffic 5.1-fold. Last year, the terminal handled containers only in July and November.

    The largest decrease in container traffic was in Anroskrym in Port Kavkaz (-63.8%), Portovik in Nevelsk (-62.9%) and Directorate for Construction under the Presidential Administrative Department in the Far Eastern Federal District in Vladivostok (-60.7%).
