Norilsk Nickel Orders 10 Barges

  • December 7 the Samus Shipbuilding and Shiprepair yard started the construction of a series of 10 sea-going barges for Yenisey River Shipping Company, a subsidiary of Norilsk Nickel.

The contract worth 2 bn rubles ($27.1 mn) was signed in May 2021. It provides for building 92 mm LOA 10 barges with a capacity of 3,000 tons in the river and 2,500 tons at sea. The first two barges are to be delivered in 2022, with four to follow in 2023 and four more in 2024.

The company intends to deploy the vessels on the influents of the Yenisey (Nizhnyaya Tunguska, Podkamennaya Tunguska, Bolshaya Kheta) in spring and at sea after the port of Dudinka and the Yenisy Bay get free of ice.
