Coke and Coal Char Export Declines MoM in September 2021

  • According to the RF Federal Customs Service, in January-September 2021 Russia exported 157.9 mn tons of coal, up 7.9% year-on-year. In terms of value, coal export amounted to over $11.5 bn, up 22.4% year-on-year.

    Coal import during the period under report made 16.3 mn tons, up 1.5% year-on-year, worth $302.8 mn, up 34.7% year-on-year.

    Coke and coal char export in January-September 2021 made 2.4 mn tons, up 28.4% year-on-year, worth $669.4 mn, up 99.3% year-on-year.

    In September, coal export made 21.3 mn tons, up 5.7% year-on-year and up 5.6% month-on-month. Value-wise, coal export increased by 58.6% year-on-year and by 10.9% month-on-month making $1.9 bn.

    Coke and coal char export in September amounted to 235.2 thousand tons, up 5.2% year-on-year and down 16.2% month-on-month. In terms of value it was worth $85.7 mn, up 2.9-fold year-on-year and down 13.3% month-on-month.
