Грузооборот Сайменского канала, 8 месяцев 2021: объем перевозок пиломатериалов вырос в 3,3 раза

Timber, Fertilizers and Coal Transportation by Saimaa Canal Grows in January-August 2021

  • According to the Statistics Finland, 707 freight vessel transited the Saimaa Canal during January-August 2021, up 3.1% year-on-year. 398 of them, or 56.3% of the total were flying the Russian flag, down 3.9% year-on-year.

    The main commodity transported was timber and logs, which grew by 6.3% up to 370.2 thousand tons. Sawn goods were up 3.3-fold to 53.9 thousand tons.

    Fertilizers increased by 36.8% up to 122.7 thousand tons, and coal by 57% up to 13.9 thousand tons.

    Construction cargo declined by 15.6%, paper by 22.8%, pulp by 33.1%, and chemicals by 49.8%.
