TrasnContainer has launched a regular container service from China to Rostov-na-Donu in South Russia via Nakhodka in the Russian Far East.
TransContainer organizes rail transportation of containers in China and Russia. Depending on the situation in Chinese ports, containers are carried to the ports of Taicang, Ningbo, or Shanghai and shipped by sea to the Russian Far East. The short sea leg takes some 6 days.
After that, the cargo is customs cleared, loaded onto rail at an off-dock terminal and transported by rail via the TransSiberian rail bridge to Rostov-na-Donu in a block train. The transit time by rail makes 14 days.
In July and August, the company carried out test shipments on the route and starting September offers the service on a regular basis. Trains leave Nakhodka twice a month. Most of the cargo carried is consumer gods.
