The consolidated throughput of the stevedoring companies incorporated in Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group made 67.4 mn tons during January-July 2021 declining by 2.3% year-on-year.
In July, cargo traffic via NCSP grew by 43.5% year-on-year but decreased by 4.5% month-on-month.
Liquid bulk, which accounts for 78.8% of the aggregate throughput of the Group, was down 4.5% year-on-year to 53.1 mn tons during January-July 2021.
Crude oil declined 7.5% down to 31.7 mn tons. Oil products traffic increased by 1.2% up to 20.8 mn tons. Almost all other liquid bulk commodities declined in January-July this year.
Solid bulk increased by 4.8% year-on-year up to 4.3 mn tons. Sugar handling surged 15-fold to make 481.2 thousand tons. Coal grew by 8% up to 724.2 thousand tons, and chemicals by 48.3% up to 739.7 thousand tons.
All the other commodities in this segment declined with ferrous ore down 18.7% to 2.3 mn tons, and other solid bulk down 46% to 21 thousand tons.
General cargo increased by 6.7% year-on-year to exceed 6.9 mn tons driven by ferrous metals and cast iron, which grew by 7.3% to 6.2 mn tons supported by the rising demand and high prices in the global market.
Non-ferrous metals decreased by 5.8% down to 551.5 thousand tons, timber and logs by 28.3% down to 64.2 thousand tons. Perishables grew by 64.2% up to 170.1 thousand tons.
Container traffic grew mostly due to higher volumes handled by Baltic Stevedore Company in Baltiysk in Kaliningrad region.
