Container Traffic via Russian Ports Up 13.7% in July 2021

    According to SeaNews PORTSTAT analytic online service, the total container throughput of all the Russian sea ports in July 2021 increased by 13.7% year-on-year.

    Import grew by 14%, export by 19.3%, and transit surged 4.1-fold. Cabotage, on the contrary, declined by 13.4%.

    Laden container throughput via the Russian sea ports was up 16.6%. Reefer containers accounted for 9% of the total laden container traffic, and dry containers for 91%. Imports made 49% of all the laden containers, exports 36.4%, cabotage 10.6%, and transit 4%.

    Empty container traffic grew by 3.1%.

    The Baltic basin accounted for 45.4% of the aggregate container throughput via the Russian sea ports in July. The Far East basin handled 39.3%, the Azov and Black Sea basin accounted for 12.7%, the Arctic basin for 2.6% and the Caspian basin for 0.03% of the total.
