The project to build a railway to the Kaluga Special Economic Zone developed under a concession agreement between Russian Railways and Kaluga region Government, is to be certified according to the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS).
The project will be evaluated in terms of infrastructure quality, economic efficiency, and social effects.
Russian Railways and Kaluga region Government agreed on building a railway line to the Kaluga Special Economic Zone, a new industrial cluster in Lyudinovo.
The project is the first regional concession in Russia. The railway line will make it possible for the residents of the Special Economic Zone to transport 1.6 mn tons per annum.
The railway is to be put into operation in September 2021.
