On May 26, 2021, the “Zhen Hua 19” heavylift vessel delivered new equipment from China to Delo Group’s Novorossiysk-based NUTEP container terminal. The five RTG gantry container cranes manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (ZPMC) are part of the final stage of the investment project aimed at reconstruction and expansion of the terminal’s capacity.
The contract for manufacturing and delivery of the equipment was signed in May 2020 and is estimated to cost $8,350 thousand.
Yury Matvienko, Chief Executive Officer of NUTEP, noted: “The new cranes have a significant advantage – they are capable of storing a tier of six (6 + 1) containers, while the currently operated crane equipment is only out of five (5 + 1). The increase in the number of layers will allow us to expand the capacity of the storage area by 15% and ensure the receipt and dispatch of additional cargo volumes. “
The NUTEP terminal currently operates five RTG cranes made by Konecranes and four RTG cranes made by ZPMC. The new equipment is planned to be commissioned in Q3 2021.
